Next to making music, my passion is to restore and repair synthesizers, both
vintage and modern. Not too modern however, because these are not through-hole
electronics, but surface mount technology. Through-hole means: components
literally are mounted through holes in the circuit board. These are of reasonable size
and can be replaced by hand. Surface mount technology uses much smaller components
and require special equipment and skills. Most mass produced instruments are made
this way. Some smaller manufacturers still use through-hole, which is great: their devices
can still be handled and repaired by an amateur - but skilled - electronician like myself.

Here I intend to post some pictures and explanations of the repairs that I do
on synthesizers, both mine and those from friends and acquaintances.
