A fellow musician brought in his Oberheim OB-8 for repair. This classic, brilliant instrument
has a well-known and well-documented flaw: the bridge rectifier the manufacturer used in the
power supply is WAY too underrated for the demands of the instrument, and it will inevitably
fail, leaving ugly traces of overheating on the PCB. See pictures. In my own OB-8, I replaced it
a long time ago with a very heavy duty voltage regulator, which forced me to drill a hole in
the back panel of the instrument, something I don't want/ like to do. So here, I did it in adifferent
way. There was already a hole in the chassis which has allowed me to attach the regulator. At the
same time, it gives a very large surface for heat dissipation, which is essential.

Easy to replace in case something would go wrong again. No need to work on the PCB should this be the case.
